About Lake Country Chorus

Lake Country Chorus is a membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We have singers of all ages, all walks of life, and all parts of the east metro Twin Cities area.

Performance

The main purpose of Lake Country Chorus is to get out and sing for our community. We sing at community events, a  fall fund-raiser performance and a Christmas concert. We are available to sing at your next function or event. If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please check out our Hire Us section.

Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Several times a year we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.

Youth music education is also an important focus for barbershoppers, and Lake Country Chorus participates with other Twin City barbershop groups to conduct A Cappella Festivals for teens in our area.  Students from public, private and charter schools and home-schoolers are all invited to participate. The next Young Women in Harmony festival will be held on Saturday, October 8th. Watch for details.

Competition

In the spring of every year, Lake Country Chorus participates in the Region Six chorus competition. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get constructive feedback from a panel of judges. We have received numerous awards in the A and AA categories over the  years. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories will advance  to International Competition. This past May, Lake Country competed in the Open Division and earned the Audience Favorite award.   Click here to learn more.

Quartets

Quartet singing is an important part of Sweet Adelines, and singing in quartets or other informal small groups is a great way to improve our singing skills.

Lake Country has held a Quartet Round-up for Region Six singers, which helped potential quartet singers find voice matches.
